Hi Jack, Re cockfighting story.
Barbaric - Yes, Gruesome - Yes, Ilegal - Yes, Exciting - No.
How do you reasonably justify your emotional interest in watching that sort of game.
Perhaps you have some regrets now.

Jon and Jack,
So glad you have met one of us cycle tourists! There is no greater way to see either our magnificent county or Europe. The experience you are having is even more magnified 'cos you have to interact with the locals, and the pace of travel is so slow compared with how we normally live. Husband and I (both in our 60's) have some 10,000km of dirt and road under the wheels cycle touring and are off to Europe again next year. Glad to have found your site and will enjoy hearing of your adventures!

It's great to catch up again and to read all the notes. So pleased to hear you are at last "at sea"
I went a couple of years ago from Melbourne to Oakland on a container ship, it was quite an experience! I was the only passenger! Quite a shock, but it was a restful voyage and just what I needed at the time,at age 75. The crew were from Tuvulu and reis was the main dish for 27 days. But enough of me.This is your trip.
I hope you can get to Turkey and Greece, two very interesting countries, get to Goremi in Turkey and see the ancient caves, where the Christians hid and of course Gallipoli, there is an excellent youth hostel just across the Dardenells. I will be tuning in to read all your news. Good Luck and safe travelling.

Dear J and J your trip is making me very envious.Tip from mine ,purchase some big black beards for Iran ,dont offer A$ change at border with black market boys can't miss them, visa not accepted in 01,long trouses and long sleeved shirts. The people are welcoming but don't be too assertive, agent's often a help to get across border crossings.I hope you have a football with you we found if things are getting you down at the borders a game of football often helps, everyone closes up plays a game and then the processing is amazingly fast, entertainment I guess.Block ice is available and a plastic rubbish bin will work as an esky then you can wash in the water.Always check the seal when purchasing water in the shop often bottles are refilled keep your rubbish for the kids. When you stop they appear from nowhere they love stickers and pens also colouring in books.WHO bores along roads keep a look out.Cheers chaps.Marie Molan.

Hi guys,
We found Catherine to be a friendly place, a little oasis between Darwin and Alice. We over-all spent about four days there and surrounding areas.
Take care guys.

I was working around Broome way last week, and thought of you guys while extricating a landcruiser ute from a bottomless sandpit. The cruiser (which belonged to a company I was working for) had spent its whole life underground in a mine, was rusty as a rusty thing, but ran faultlessly.
Stay out of big sand, and continue your epic. Adrenaline is OK

Hi Jon and Jack

I am sitting by the heater in Tasmania at the moment, reading about your trip with great envy.

Very much enjoying your tales, and looking forward to reading more.

Best wishes Leanne
